If your child wants to read a book that is not on the summer reading list or earns Accelerated Reader points, don't automatically say no. If there is something about a book that has captured your child's attention, you should be happy about that. Make a deal: He finishes the summer reading/AR book, he gets to read the other one. But don't discount a book because it's not on some list, especially if it has excited your child. It might make the difference between her having to read and wanting to read.
Love,
Trish
Dear Santa...Dear Santa, This year I've been busy! In February I committed genocide... Sorry about that, Overall, I've been naughty (-5055 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking! Sincerely, |
I was featured on the NaNoWriMo blog as a true-life tale of people who've participated in National Novel Writing Month and succeeded. I was going to share this story on my own blog one day. I guess today's the day. Check it out!
By now the YA world is divided into two camps over Breaking Dawn. No, wait, let's use Twilight lingo and call them teams: Team Breaking Dawn and Team Broken Down. I know which team I'm down with. Have you read it? Which team are you on?
Speaking of Twilight, I've seen the trailer for the film version of the novel and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to see it. How about you?
And, speaking of movie versions of books, I've also seen the trailer for Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and I'm really looking forward to it. It looks like the raw edginess of the book will be replaced with comedy in the film version, but I think it's going to be good anyway. Anyone else looking forward to this one?
How's it going?
I normally blog on my own website, but so many people like LJ, I thought I'd check it out. So far, so good!

Dear Santa...
